Addicted to Kerrisdale

I can get to Kerrisdale within 10 minutes by car. I don't go often; but when I do, I cannot leave.

6 hours roaming Kerrisdale today included visits to favourite spots and discoveries of new ones.

The Kerrisdale Village Farmers' Market was the first stop.

Discovered exactly a year ago and raved about on the blog (read Kerrisdale Farmers' Market - Worth the Trip), this market remains a favourite in the city - great variety, friendly farmers and it always feels cheaper than all the other Farmers' markets around.

I never visit Kerrisdale without a stop at my favourite bakery with its cheerful owners - sweet e's (2032 West 41st Ave.).

And Saturday's are the days to go since Rise Artisan Breads are delivered there every Saturday morning - Tuscan Grape Bread, Rustic White Loaf, Organic Levin. Limited amount and they go fast fast fast. So I was thrilled today to (a) find some left and (b) have dinner plans that the organic Levin loaf will go well with.

Also a new surprise were those lovely chocolate baby cakes in dark, milk and white chocolate (two of each please).

Another stop that is always on a Kerrisdale visit's itinerary is gem chocolates (2029 West 41st Ave.).

The place is full of little pieces of chocolate art that taste as elegant as they look. More impressive is the number of awards that the personable owner and  chocolatier keeps on winning.

Today's trip included making new Kerrisdale friends, Kerrisdale Gluten Free (2233 West 41st Ave.).

Surprising what you'd find in gluten free - both fresh baked goods and packaged ones.

The other new friend was made at Adonia Tea House and Gifts (2057 West 41st Ave.).

I passed this place many times before thinking it's a furniture and porcelain store. But no, it is a place where you can sit down in a comfortable environment, listen to classical music, drink some unique teas and sample delicate cookies and macarons.

Two special teas caught our nostrils (and wallet) - the Nights in Paris and Exotic Paradise - both exotic smelling with white tea base and a variety of herbs and flowers.

I want to return with my book.

But the real discovery is the newest restaurant on the strip, and a Lebanese one nonetheless - Sofra (20 West 41st Ave.).

But that is for another day (stay tuned for the review coming up soon).
