Oktober Feast

Die Frau cooked, Die Kaiserin charmed und der Blogger documented Oktober Feast heute. Or did he just get drunk all day?

Let's start at the very beginning. An email arrives two weeks ago with "Please join me for a German meal with Weiss Beir on Saturday Oktober 20th". Natürlich ich hab doch gesagt ja.

I personally wouldn't have described it as simply a meal; but a home made, authentically German, all-made-from scratch feast.

Weiss Beir was waiting, along with an eclectic originals, brought from Deutschland, Beirkrugen.


Meat-o-mania was the theme and that included:

Die Wiener mit Senf
Die Wiesse Wurst

Frikadellen made from scratch with pork and beef

Der Schweinebraten mit Sauerkraut made this morning from scratch

But most impressive were the freshly made apple sauce and the freshly made Rotkohl - red cabbage and apple boiled with vinegar and spices.

Aber damit nicht genug.
Die Kartoffel von Kuchen were a special treat.

Potatoes were processed with the rest of batter ingredients, resulting in a typical pancake batter...but with a beyond-typical taste.


Und die Süßspeise? 

Ja, die Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte but made into cup cakes; how ingenious of you die Frau.

And our generous die Frau packed up the leftovers and sent them along. So my dear readers, my Oktober Feast is not yet over since I am smelling the left-overs on the dining room table as I write.
